#Providenciales, Turks and  Caicos Islands – Wednesday June 6, 2018 – The country’s Premier and Finance Minister is taking a new approach to ensuring the public has a say in what are the spending priorities of Government, ahead of the roll out of the 2018-2019 National Budget.

Over the weekend, a survey was introduced promising residents that responses to the questions would take a mere 3 to 5 minutes in the hunt for feedback.

Five questions not only derive demographic information on age, sex and island of residence of who is responding , but what is considered the areas of priorities to guide public spending in this upcoming fiscal year.

There are 18 ideas listed, with residents able to glide the suggestions up or down to create the list of top 10 priorities.

Among the suggestions to the question which says, in part, “…what are the top ten issues that you would like to see Government direct its focus and resources… 10 being the lowest priority, 1 the highest priority…” are a Home Ownership Program; Spine Link Road; Customer Service; School Repairs; Road Repairs; Crime and Policing; Creation of Business Opportunities or a Nationwide Clean up.

The invitation extended by the Office of the Premier explains that the feedback will not only assist with crafting the main focuses of the new fiscal year but provide insight for the design of a Vision 2040 Medium Term Development Strategy.

Residents have until June 14, 2018 to anonymously take the survey on SurveyMonkey.  Additional responses are also welcomed at consultation@gov.tc.
