#Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands – Friday April 6, 2018 – Out of concern and frustration at the atrocities that are now so prevalent in our Turks and Caicos that are being perpetrated against our people, I proceeded today to the government offices that are being renovated at South Base Grand Turk.

This inspection was to ascertain whether or not the allegations are true that the wood work teachers from the H J Robinson High School who are Jamaicans, are doing the renovations at a government building that houses Road Traffic & Planning Departments at South Base and that this work was contracted out to a Jamaican national who receives disability benefits.

My inspection revealed first of all that the contractor was indeed a local Turks and Caicos Islander and that no wood work teacher was at this time present on the job site. On discovering who the contractor really is, I proceeded to call him and had a lengthy conversation with him on the telephone to deal with the matter from the standpoint of representing the interest of Turks and Caicos Islanders who are so badly in need of jobs.

Fortunately, according to him immigration officers had previously responded to the national outcry on social media and had already removed the Jamaican teacher from the job site.

I am mindful of Shakespeare’s play ‘All Is Well That Ends Well’ In conclusion, I must say congratulations to the immigration department that responded in a timely manner to this egregious situation. In the midst of this all, let’s also thank God for such a smooth and calm ending.

Turks and Caicos Islanders, let’s wake up, stand up and take back what’s rightfully ours. Let’s also be ever mindful that nobody is going to give it back to us as long as we are inebriated by the spirit of apathy that causes us to slumber and sleep while our house is on fire.
