Illegal landing, Haitians spotted running soaking wet in areas of Provo
#Providenciales, TCI – Tuesday April 24, 2018 – Soaking wet Haitians running through areas in North West Point and Little Bluff in Providenciales were caught and are now waiting to be sent back home to Haiti.
The group is the latest set of illegals to successfully make landfall, and the first on record since the radar’s range and capabilities were boosted, ‘significantly’ according to national security chief, Governor Dr. John Freeman. 
In a report on Monday, Police said this: Police and Immigration Officials are investigating the landing of an Illegal Haitian Sloop between late Saturday March 21st, and early morning Sunday, March 22nd, 2018. It was reported to the 911 Central that a number of illegal persons in wet clothing, were seen running in the North -West Point, Little Bluff area. So far, a total of 31 males and five females were caught and taken to the Detention Centre for processing.” 
There had been reports on Sunday that the vessel was a speed boat and that it reached shore in Chalk Sound. Police now confirm otherwise and the Immigration Department, Monday also shared this:
“The operational response included the Tactical Unit of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force and the Immigration Enforcement Unit, Division B. These persons are being processed and remain detained at the Detention Center until repatriation. The Enforcement agencies of the Turks and Caicos Islands are again asking anyone with information concerning planned and landed arrival of other sloops to contact the Police anonymously on 911 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1-800-8477.
The public is reminded that it is an offence to harbour illegal persons. Persons found guilty engaging in such activities are liable to a fine of US$20,000 or a term of imprisonment of four years, or both in accordance with Section 99 of the Immigration Ordinance 2015.

Government last week announced that in the past five years, the Turks and Caicos Islands has spent some $4.3m on the cost of repatriating illegal migrants to Haiti and other countries.
