TCI: Double Murder accused back in court this week, Dominican community with bated breath

Sorineida Arias body discovered in Crystal Bay

Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – March 22, 2018 – Double-murder-accused Christopher Forbes returned to court on Monday for a Pre-Trial readiness hearing according to the court docket.

Forbes, a Bahamian from Freeport, Grand Bahama was arrested in August 2016 for the brutal and gruesome murders of Yuniery Veras and Soreneida Arias, both 26-years old and both from the Dominican Republic. 

The women were found partially nude, even with burns in deserted areas of Providenciales by search parties organized within the Dominican community.  Both women had been reported missing and were missing for days before their bodies were discovered.

The body of Yuneiry Veras was found on April 23, 2016 in Pirate’s Cove and the body of Sorineida Moreno Arias was found on July 13, 2016 on Crystal Bay Road in Northwest Point.

Loved ones were devastated. 

Forbes, who worked as a bouncer was arrested at a residence in Millennium Heights subdivision after Police swarmed the house.

The young man, said to be from ‘Backa Town’ in Freeport has made court appearances in September and November 2017 already; while Forbes is on remand at Her Majesty’s Prison for the killings, there remains no trial date set as he still has to get through a sufficiency hearing where it will be determined if there is enough evidence to proceed to trial.
