#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, March 25, 2018 – Red flags are now raised about the kinds of places which are being allowed to operate as night clubs following a deadly shooting spree at a popular spot in Providenciales.  The questions arise about whether there is adequate security, whether security guards are properly trained and equipped and if facilities offer sufficient exit doors if trouble breaks out.

“It’s only one door to get in its not a door to come out… Everybody has kids, some ain’t gat no kids that’s people life they taking away like that,” the women speaking on social media added, “The security dem need to straighten up. Whoever security it is they need to straighten up, they need to have more than one to the club and as a matter of fact, they need to shut the club down.”

A 30-year old woman is dead after reports say she was shot twice despite trying to dodge a hail of bullets supposedly meant for another man standing nearby her outside the Leeward Highway club.

Also concerning, a young man is in hospital with an untold number of gunshot wounds and it is a teenager, say police in their morning report on the murder.  The teen was at the club when the incident happened around 3am.

“Police on Providenciales are investigating a shooting incident Friday, March 23rd, 2018, that claimed the life of a 30-year-old woman and left a 17-year-old with injuries.  According to 911 reports, at 3:20 a.m. police received information of a shooting at the Versace Bar on the Leeward Highway.”

Versace, which is the name of the night club used to be located on Airport Road at the Morris Plaza but it moved to just across the street from FortisTCI.  The popular lounge has a robust presence on Instagram and is often recommended to curious tourists as a great place to go to party, TCI-style.

Social media chatter says the club cannot be blamed in this case though.

“That ain’t happen in the club man, that ain’t happen in the club that happen outside the club so that ain’t nothing that anybody coulda control. That happened in the front near the road where they cut up the chicken and stuff, that happen more close to the front.”

The Police explained that they are actively investigating the shooting and have asked the public for help in the case.  “Please call 911, 338-5901, 941-8082 or anonymously call into Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.”
