#Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands – February 27, 2018 – Grace Bay Beach defies the odds and is named as the TripAdvisor best beach destination in the world yet again.

It is an amazing comeback for the stretch in Providenciales, Turks and Caicos Islands, which remains breathtakingly beautiful but which has also overcome some near insurmountable odds to capture this envious spot over 24 other fabulous coastal getaways from across the globe.

Chief among the challenges, the historic, catastrophic Hurricane Irma of September 2017 which battered coastal areas across the Turks and Caicos Islands.

In a presentation to a CARICOM-UN Donor Pledging Conference held in New York in November 2017, the country’s Premier, Hon Sharlene Robinson explained about the state of the islands that, “Critical assessments have shown that four to five feet of coastal erosion was recorded at the popular Grace Bay beach. This paints a lucid picture on adverse effects on our coastal environment, that is hinged on our main bread winner, Tourism. Therefore, there is an urgency to engage in in coastal protection efforts.”

Those efforts have since started, we are told.

Islanders would say, ‘the Turks and Caicos is blessed by God’ and it seems TripAdvisor readers and reviewers agree, saying of #GraceBayBeach:  the hues of turquoise waters, the cool, soft white sand and the fact that the 12 mile strip is sunny year round and never crowded is the reason it is an absolute must do.

#TripAdvisor revealed the Top 25 World’s Best Beaches last week.
