#Nassau, New Providence, Bahamas – October 23, 2017 – There is no count on how many employees of BTC have been laid off but a press release from the telecommunications company does confirm the redundancies.

BTC could be floundering under the pounding pressure of Aliv, which has seen thousands of BTC customers migrate to the new service provider.  But interim CEO, Dexter Cartwright had a different explanation for the staff cut.

“As part of our strategic approach to transform to a more customer-centric, high performing organization, we are making adjustments to how we run our business,” said Cartwright in that media statement.  He added, “We are carrying out necessary network upgrades, giving more focus on training and development and improving back office support to better serve our customers. As part of this broader program, we have adjusted our team structure, and as such, a few positions at BTC have been made redundant.”

BTC is focused on building a more effective team structure, it says, to deliver the best products and services to The Bahamas.
