Rough weather overnight, rain water wastes again

A frontal boundary lingering in the islands of The Bahamas and Turks and Caicos caused isolated thunderstorms and intermittent downpours overnight… Small craft advisories were also issued.

Once again we see what a consistent rain can cause in Providenciales as flood prone areas were flooded … sharp lightening strikes and rolling thunder was heard too.

We also see how much this falling rain water, which is quite a useful and precious commodity, is wasted.

In TCI, a main way to get rid of the flooding is to direct those waters via a duct system to a salty salina; where any opportunity to use that free, fresh water is lost.

Meanwhile, an article published last year in The Guardian exposed that fresh water scarcity is likely the next major global crisis.  One billion people do not have access to safe, fresh water.

Working a water conservation plan in the Turks and Caicos will not only save more water, but could significantly reduce the flooding.
