TCI Disaster Office launches Hurricane Prep Month

Stakeholder meetings in all islands of the Turks and Caicos will be a huge part of the preparedness campaign to be kicked off officially today by the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies. 
 
DDME Director, Dr. Virginia Clerveaux in a media notice shared that there will be community outreach, a primary school art competition, newspaper supplements, and two out of town sessions for her team to ready themselves for the upcoming storm season; one in Orlando called the Governor’s Hurricane Conference and the other is the Florida State Hurricane Exercise.   
 
You can also see a series of Public Service Announcements on TV, staring DDME and 911 personnel.  On May 1st, also known as May Day, the DDME team attended church at the Bethany Baptist Church in Blue Hills. 
 
Today, along with Minister Hon George Lightbourne, the month of preparation promotions will be officially launched at the HJ Robinson High School Auditorium in Grand Turk at 10am; the ceremony will be carried live on government radio.
