Students representing 11 schools from throughout the Turks and Islands will participate tomorrow in this year’s 2016 National High School Spelling Bee.

Organizers of the event said students are encouraged to study word meanings, identify diacritical markings and know word origins. Students also learn and spell words quickly and accurately using proper pronunciation and hearing word usage.

The National High School Spelling Bee provides an opportunity to boost self esteem, develop stronger character and encourage sportsmanship.

The venue is Gus Lightbourne Gym; the general public is encouraged to come out.

The Ministry of Education, Youth Sport & Library Services and Lew 1 Shipping Ltd are the sponsors of the National High School Spelling Bee.
