A faked illness brought the guards to the detainees being held at the South Dock Road Detention center; 108 of them were being housed there after an interception of their motor powered boat on Sunday around 3am.
Police say a detainee claimed he had stomach pain, when he was responded to the guard was ambushed, choked and handcuffed to the cell door and 12 of the Haitians being held managed to escape.
The 12 men remain on the loose.
