Wheeland Member cautions public, not to trust PNP Budget

The Government’s track record proves they will not do what they say, it was the overarching perspective of Wheeland Member of Parliament, Delroy Williams.

“Even though they are in the Budget, for some reason I just don’t trust this government. Because we had in 2-13/14 we had budgeted a boat ramp for the Wheeland community, that went away. It just disappeared out of the Budget.”

When it comes to public works, the shadow Minister from the PDM, explained in that Monday press conference that projects are continuously underfunded or never tackled or completed. Williams said the capital works announcements are empty promises.

“Hon Derek Taylor spoke about $37 million in projects, $12 million of that is in infrastructure and all of it is uncommitted. Projects included the replacement of Church Folly in Grand Turk, government roads and Hon Goldray (Ewing) mentioned the Blue Hills board walk, which is estimated at $2 million but nothing has been budgeted to spend. Just a measly $100k, but that cannot build a boardwalk. For years I have been begging for a Community Center for Wheeland; this year they have budgeted $1 million that is uncommitted, no monies has been allocated for it.”
