Earth Day was on Friday, April 22 and holding to a now 8-year-old tradition was the Turks and Caicos Islands Hotel and Tourism Association with its clean-up strategy better known as TCI Shines.

From Blue Haven Resort in the east of Provo, to North Caicos to Grand Turk in the south, there were garbage pick-up efforts supported by communities but mainly, TCHTA members.

Seven Stars, Pinnacle, Ocean Club Resorts, Ports of Call Resort, La Vista Azul, Beaches and Gansevoort,   Parrot Cay, DEMA, Blue Haven and Kayanna Gibson, our Junior Tourism Minister came out in healthy numbers for a showdown!  It was  tourism industry ambassadors VS the garbage littering beaches, sidewalks, bushes and even undersea.

TCHTA Executive, Stacy Cox shared that 12 zones were covered in the Saturday morning clean up which will happen again later this year during Tourism Environmental Awareness Month.

FortisTCI and the Filipino Community also joined the effort.
