South Florida records first cases of Zika virus

Providenciales, 20 jan 2016 – A baby affected by Zika was born in the United States with a smaller than usual head and Canada has issued a health notice and now South Florida reports three cases of the mosquito borne virus which originated in Central and South America.

The CDC has issued warning for pregnant women of the USA travelling to that part of the hemisphere; their advice is to postpone travel there.

The Florida cases were found, two in Miami, the third in Hillsborough County – the Zika infections in those cases originate from Colombia and Venezuela.
