Providenciales, 08 Dec 2015 – Some have labeled it a ‘witch hunt’ and today is expected to be an interesting one at the Myrtle Rigby Health Complex turned sophisticated court room when ten defendants including the former and first Premier of the country, Michael Eugene Misick appear to face charges of corruption while in office.
The cases are arguably the most popular in Turks and Caicos history and certainly are the most expensive.
While Governor Peter Beckingham this year in a statement explained that the UK believes it best to give a cost breakdown on the Special Investigation which is led by Prosecutor, Helen Garlick once the trials are over… it was during the Appropriations Committee meeting recently, that Chief Justice Margaret Ramsay Hale explained how the money would be spent when it came to the judiciary.
The CJ agreed that the trial will have cost the country between eight and nine million dollars from 2015 to 2017.
The trials open today at 10am after the original date, Monday December 7, was devoted to training of attorneys on the new technology set up at the court for swifter access to the mounds of evidence.
