PROVIDENCIALES, Turks & Caicos Islands – Friday, November 13, 2015 – The staff of the Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) on Friday donned their blue t-shirts in support of the Turks & Caicos Islands Diabetic Association’s awareness drive.

November 14, is celebrated as World Diabetes Day and the local Diabetic Association has taken lead to educate the local public. TCI Diabetic Association member, Angela Williams is proud to lead the Airport and its staff members and encourage them to wear the blue shirts for the day. She has been a member of this association for years and has helped to bring about awareness through sales of these shirt and being a part of meetings that are held on the 1st Tuesday of every month at the Cheshire Hall Medical Center. These meetings are open to the public and are geared towards the education, prevention and control of Diabetes.

The Association raises funds to support TCI Diabetics from all islands as it is noted that 33% of the local population suffer from this disease. Funds raised are also used to purchase meters, needles, food supplies and even scooters for those most in need.

The Chairman and staff of the TCIAA are proud to support such a worthy initiative and encourage staff cohesiveness for a disease that affects so many in our small community.
