Providenciales, 30 Oct 2015 – Countries suffer an unfortunate brain drain when its most talented achievers do not return home after successful stints in college and university and while it has been about a decade since Anya Malcolm lived at home in the Turks and Caicos; she is back and she is taking on a significant role in the Ministry of Health and Human Services.
Dr. Anya Malcolm is quite accomplished with degrees and training and work experience that made her an easy hire for the Deputy Governor, Anya Williams who said: “I am most pleased to welcome Dr. Malcolm to the Turks and Caicos Islands civil service and most proud of her accomplishments. She has continued to excel throughout the years, performing exceptionally well at both the secondary and tertiary levels and has always made quite clear her devotion to these islands…”
Dr. Malcolm is the new clinical psychologist in the Mental Health and Substance Abuse Department. The Clement Howell High graduate holds a Bachelors of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology (Magna Cum Laude Honors), a Terminal Master’s degree in Psychology and a Doctor of Psychology Degree in Clinical Psychology.
She has previous experience in private practices and community mental health clinics across Virginia, Maryland, and Washington DC. Dr. Malcolm has worked with Emmaus Services for the Aging; Neuropsychology Associates of Fairfax; Associated Clinical Services; New Perspective Psychotherapy and Consulting and with Community Counseling and Mentoring Services, Inc.
At 28 years old, Dr. Malcolm has already started work within TCIG.
