Providenciales, 23 Oct 2015 – The Government will get a new National Security Strategy when the Commissioner of Police, James Smith presents it at the next National Security Council or NSC meeting on December 10th, 2015.

The new strategy will give not only short term solutions but longer term ideas for thwarting crime and bolstering the Police Force. The group, which includes the Governor, Police Chief, Border Control Minister, Attorney General and the Premier plans to meet at least 10 times a year.

The goal is getting homeland security beefed up and to do that, media was also on Thursday informed that commissioner James Smith gave a presentation on his immediate priorities for enhancing the capability of the RTCIPF including bringing in specialist officers in the field of serious crime investigation.

There have been harsh criticisms of the Police Force due to the high rate of unsolved serious crimes like murders.

By the first quarter of 2016, the NSC terms of reference will be presented for debate in the House of Assembly.
