Providenciales, 23 Sept 2015 – There is a new date being given for the Special Investigation and Prosecution trials. Pre Trial hearings concluded Tuesday with the court adjusting the trial date from December 1st to December 7th, citing scheduling conflicts for several of the defense attorneys.
It was determined that pre-trial matters will also be discussed at the December 7th hearings, with the prosecution possibly commencing its opening argument. The hearings will continue until December 18th, with the trial expected to resume on January 18th.
Former Premier Michael Misick and eight others are facing a range of corruption related charges.
The trials come almost five years after the Special Investigation Prosecution Team was hired following recommendations from the 2009 Commission of Inquiry.
