Providenciales, 15 Sept 2015 – In her address at the House of Assembly on Monday, Deputy Premier and Minister of Education, Hon. Akierra Missick stated that a critical review of the delays in the Summer works school refurbishment program will be conducted with the Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Planning.

The Education Minister was addressing concerns about some schools still not being ready for the 2015/2016 academic year, despite a multi million dollar increase in funding for the school renovations. The minister said the so-called, ‘Summer Works Program’ is administered by the Public Works Department.

Minister Missick also pointed out that “the summer program only addresses critical issues like replacement of doors, windows, toilet upgrades and does not reflect major infrastructural upgrades, which usually are conducted through the various capital projects programs.”

The House of Assembly continues with live broadcast today.
