Providenciales, 17 Sept 2015 – The Department of Youth turns to an anti-violence message when it comes to Youth Week celebrations in the TCI this year.

On day one of the House of Assembly meeting this week, Youth Minister, Hon. Akierra Missick said September 20th marks the start of Youth Week celebrations. This year’s theme is: ‘Break the silence, stop the violence.’

Minister Missick said, “this is an anti-gun violence campaign, which will be lead by a team from the Youth Department along with a promotion company who will host peace concerts, rallies and talks that are aimed at bringing awareness to the increasing scourge of gun violence and will urge us to step forward and say something, get involved and go back to being our brother’s keeper.”

Each island will have a detailed list of events, according to the Deputy Premier and the anti-violence campaign will feature a panel of local and international speakers.

The Minister encouraged the public to come out and support the youth as they display their talents and are recognized for their accomplishments.
