Providenciales, 21 Jul 2015 – One hundred and five scholarships have been awarded by TCIG; and 19 of those scholastic prizes will go to developing individuals in the health sector and with the lion’s share – 34 scholarships – going to studies in liberal arts which includes the legal profession, social work and business.
Education Minister Akierra Misick said: ““This year, my Government continued its thrust toward the development and upgrade of teachers and senior leaders within schools, $200,000 was earmarked for this purpose and 28 teachers were awarded scholarships to upgrade to the Bachelor’s level, at the Turks and Caicos Islands Community College (TCICC), Online and within the Region.”
There were nine scholarships in the sciences, seven to engineering, eight in the skills category and while the majority of applications did get the nod; still some 54 applicants were not afforded scholarships from government this year.
