Providenciales, 09 Jun 2015 – Summer is coming and so are vacations but the Turks and Caicos passport process is halted – at least temporarily. Government yesterday announced that there is a freeze on acceptance of applications for new TCI passports and that if your passport is expired, no extension will be granted. A series of announcements come as the new passport application process is soon to be instituted. Reprieve comes though for those who need to travel urgently and whose passports are near expiration or are still good for the next five months. Individuals in this category can get extensions.

There is also a notice to those who have already applied and were required to bring additional documents – you must do so by this coming Friday, June 12 or you will have to start your process from scratch and resubmit in the new system. Your drop off is at the One Stop Shop in Grand Turk or Provo. Add to this, there is no more fast tracking of passports available. That new passport process comes into effect June 29 and even as far out as nine months, it is advised that you make application for your Turks and Caicos passport once the new process is in effect.
