New DEMA regulations institutes Stone Crab season for June 1

Providenciales, 13 May 2015 – Just over two weeks left to go before the stoned crab season is closed; the Department of Maritime Affairs announcing this week that there are some changes to the Fisheries Protection Ordinance Regulations which will take effect on June 1, 2015. DEMA warns that any person found to be in contravention of these amendments will be committing an offence that is punishable by a fine, imprisonment or both. One may not fish nor be in possession of stone crabs. DEMA not only issues a warning to the plant owners, residents and restaurants but asks members of the public who know of anyone in breach of the law to call them to file a report.
