Providenciales, 11 May 2015 – One month and a year since the last Miss Universe Turks and Caicos pageant and there is a real concern about whether or not there will be a crowning for a new international beauty queen this year. Magnetic Media reached out to the Miss Turks and Caicos Universe Beauty Organization President and Managing Director, Kazz Forbes. Forbes could not comment on what plans there are to continue the franchise which is owned by the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board, but confirmed that he pulled out of a renewal opportunity since November last year. Forbes said: “As of March 11th 2015, I’ve successfully fulfilled my two years memorandum of understanding as the National Director of the Miss Universe Turks and Caicos Pageants for 2013 and 2014 with the Turks and Caicos Islands Tourist Board and my two years contract with the Miss Universe Organization.”
There had been reports that the pageant was plagued with challenges in the second year, when Shanice Williams won the title. Forbes, who is the designer behind St. George Fashion House, had only complimentary words for the experience though, he said the time was right to quit, saying he is moving on, “as I seek to enhance my skills as a fashion designer and embrace opportunities aboard.” The reigning Miss Universe Turks and Caicos, Shanice Williams believes the pageant will not happen this year. We await word from the Tourist Board on the future of the title.
