Jamaica tells how Johnny Kemp died

Providenciales, 22 Apr 2015 – One slip of his feet on a rocky jetty in Jamaica, and beloved Bahamian songster Johnny Kemp was gone. The latest from Jamaican police revealed they have interviewed witnesses from the cruise who say, Kemp was walking along the rocks, slipped, struck his head and drowned in waters in Montego Bay while vacationing in the country on board a Tom Joyner Foundation Fantastic Voyage cruise of the Caribbean. Kemp, nominated for his so called one hit wonder, ‘Just Got Paid’ back in the 1980’s was only 55 years old and engrossed in the planning stages of a Freeport High School reunion concert with the likes of TCI Culture Director David Bowen, a close friend and schoolmate. The father of two, also married grew up in Grand Bahama and the loss of the artist so suddenly has sent shockwaves through his home country, The Bahamas.

The Royal Jamaican Police Force contacted the Bahamian Consulate office in Jamaica when they found Kemp, his identification was a Bahamian passport.
