Providenciales, 30 April 2015 – 🚩Digicel pulls out of pursuit of second mobile license as Bahamas moves to market liberalisation in telecoms industry.

A $250-$300 million investment is now lost along with a potential 1300 direct and indirect jobs because of the Digicel decision which came last night.

Digicel had advanced to the spectrum licence auction round scheduled for May but said the Bahamas market is too small for the plan of URCA to dish out three licenses in all.

Reports are Cable Bahamas is now the clear frontrunner. Virgin Mobile is also in the running.
