Providenciales, 31 Mar 2015 – Seems like a prank in time for April Fool’s Day with the announcement today that minimum wage will not take effect tomorrow, April 1st. There is now a six week delay in the start of minimum wage, which was expected to kick in tomorrow. This means no boost in hourly earnings by 25% as the Ministry of Border Control and Labour sent out a notice shortly before 2 pm that the increase is not legal until May 15 now. Hundreds of workers nationwide, including a lower percentage of staff in the government employ would have been anticipating the hike from $5.50 per hour to $6.25 per hour.
