The Royal Bahamas Defence Force Annual Fun, Run or Walk Meet

Coral Harbour Base 16 March 15 (RBDF)– The Royal Bahamas Defence Force held its Annual Fun, Run and Walk event at Goodman’s Bay, Cable Beach at 6:00 a.m. on Saturday 20th March. The event is held every year to encourage health, fitness and comradery amongst the members of the Defence Force and the wider community.

The run was a distance of six miles from Goodman’s Bay to Sandy Port Bridge and back. The walk covered a total of three miles from Goodman’s Bay to Sandals Hotel and back. The event was well turned out by members of the Defence Force and the wider community with participants representing all age categories.

Prizes donated by corporate sponsors included phone cards, free gasoline, microwaves, and much more. Among this year’s sponsors were Book World, and Stationers, Dalbenas Agency, SunOil Limited, Natures Pearl, Marios Bowling and Entertainment Center, El Shaddai Party Rentals, Caribbean Bottling Ltd., Pure Crystal Water, Purity Bakery, Three S Bakery, Checkers Cafe, Thompson Trading, NHC Nutrition and Bahamas Waste.

The Annual Fun, Run and Walk event was also a part of the Defence Force’s Fitness Month during the month of March for the promotion of health and fitness among members of the Defence Force.

Acting Commander Defence Force, Captain Tellis Bethel, highlighted the importance of the Defence Force hosting such an event within the community stating that it provides wholesome activity for the entire family. He also indicated that because of the success of this year’s Fun, Run & Walk, separate age categories will be created for persons 60 years of age and over.
