Govt vows not to close Grand Turk hospital ahead of Budget Communication March 23

Providenciales, 23 Mar 2015 – Despite a recommendation in the Hospitals Clinical Audit to consider better use of the Grand Turk hospital; the Premier said his government believes that to close the Cockburn Town Medical Center is extreme and not an option in the face of coming developments for the capital. The country’s leader, Hon Dr. Rufus Ewing, who is also the Minister of Health said his ministry will first review the audit report and then make it public, because it is a public document. Premier Ewing said the social impact of shutting down the Grand Turk hospital would be too severe adding that he believes his government now has the money to due to the fiscal surpluses to figure on a prudent way forward. The country will hear the financial plan of Government officially rolled out during the Budget Communication in the House of Assembly. Members convene at Parliament today.
