Provienciales, 19 Jan 2015 – The Premier prayed for law enforcement officers in church yesterday.
“Oh Lord, I thank you for the privilege of living in a nation governed by the rule of law, for that reason I pray for all persons involved in the law enforcement that protects our communities, please prosper their endeavors.”
Fresh out of a conference at his own church, during the Police and Uniformed Branches Thanksgiving Service, the Premier, Rufus Ewing offered up a prayer for the men and women working for government, the guardians of law and order.
“Send your Holy Spirit upon them, giving them insight and wisdom in the location and capture of desperate criminals. Grant them your divine intervention in finding kidnapped and lost persons, help them in their search and rescues so that more people will be recovered safe and alive. And Oh Lord, I ask you to protect our officers home and abroad; may they escape death and injury.”
It was a unique moment surrounded by riveting charges to dig deeper and reach higher, oodles of thanks for bravery and perseverance, congratulations on jobs well done and a moment of silence for a fallen police officer, Prince Smith, who was in 2005 killed on the beat. The Governor, the Deputy Premier, the Leader of the Opposition, the President of the Civil Service Association and the Deputy Commissioner of Police all addressed the scores of Police, Customs, Immigration, Fire Branch and other Government workers in law enforcement attending the high spirited service at New Testament Church of God. Bishop Rueben Johnson delivered passionately on a message of ‘Love’; we will have more on the annual thanksgiving service later today.
