Providenciales, 10 Jan 2015 – Confirmed now by close family friends is the passing of matriarch of the Butterfield family; Dr. Rosita Butterfield.

Mrs. Butterfield died earlier today at Doctors Hospital in Nassau, Bahamas after a valiant fight for weeks since suffering a string of heart attacks; some massive.

One friend explained that her son, former VP of the Chamber of Commerce, Albray Butterfield was inconsolable.

Another pair of friends says: “We must pray for the family but Doc was ready. When we visited she was singing and praising God. She was ready.”

Mrs. Butterfield who was the dynamism behind the Butterfield business dynasty was a nurse, an elected parliamentarian, a Speaker of the House of Assembly, a Minister of the Gospel, a philanthropist and devoted Grandmother.

Our last filming of this vivacious woman was at the opening of Butterfield Motors where she reflected on the family’s growth in business and gushed about her time with her grandchildren.

Dr. Rosita Butterfield, MBE, in 2012 at the establishment of her and her husband’s foundation cited Matthew 25:40, as a governing scripture in her life: “Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me”.
