Providenciales, 13 Jan 2015 – Flags flew at half-mast in honor of Dr. Rosita Butterfield yesterday; the former Progressive National Party Speaker of the honourable House of Assembly died on Saturday afternoon after a valiant fight against a series of heart attacks. Dr. Rosita’s passing has elicited comments of reflection and well wishes from islanders and on his Facebook page, the Premier posts: “the country has lost a political stalwart and an instrumental pillar in the communities that she served.

Mrs. Butterfield lived a life which amplified the very essence of service, service as a nurse, service in the House of Assembly, service in her church and service in the community. Our thoughts are with her husband, Dr. Albray Victor Butterfield Snr. OBE, her children and grandchildren as they endure this profound moment of loss.” Dr. Butterfield was 78 years old.
