Dr. Rosie’s State Funeral welcomes TCI political icon home in Grand style

Providenciales, 20 Jan 2015 – The funeral plans of Dr. Rosita Butterfield, the country’s first woman elected to Parliament, a former speaker of the House of Representatives and a founding member of the Progressive National Party are revealed. On Monday, there will be a reception of the body of Dr Rosita at the JAGS McCartney International Airport at noon. Members of the House of Assembly will receive Dr. Rosie in formal attire. The body of the retired nurse, credited with delivering over 100 babies in the TCI will lie in state from 11pm Monday until noon on Tuesday at the NJS Francis Building in Grand Turk. By 3pm on Tuesday February 3, from 3 to 11pm, Dr. Rosita’s body will lie in state at her church, Faith Tabernacle Centre on Leeward Hwy.

On Wednesday a memorial will be held at 7pm, also at Faith Tabernacle with the official, and historic State Funeral of the long serving politician on Thursday February 5 at 10am at the Gus Lightbourne Sports complex grounds. The Public Sector has that day off; this means all government schools will be closed that day. Dr. Rosita Butterfield died January 10, 2015 to a string of serious heart attacks in Doctor’s Hospital in Nassau. She served three terms in representation of Kew, North Caicos in parliament and is the CEO of Butterfield Gold Group of Companies.
