BAHAMAS NEW CABINET MINISTERS AND QUEEN’S COUNSELS

Providenciales, 06 Jan 2015 – As the Turks and Caicos opened its legal year, The Bahamas was announcing new Cabinet Ministerial portfolios and swearing in eleven new Queen’s Counsels. The Hon. Hope Strachan, Member of Parliament for Sea Breeze, is appointed the new Minister of Financial Services with effect from Monday, January 12th, 2015. This role became void with the resignation of Ryan Pinder last month; said he got a better paying job in the private sector. Hon. Arnold A. Forbes, the Member of Parliament for Mount Moriah, is appointed Minister of State in the Ministry of Works & Urban Development, that too takes effect next week Monday January 12.

Additionally, foregoing ministerial appointments is Dion Smith, Deputy House Speaker and Member of Parliament for Nassau Village; Smith is now appointed the new Chairman of The Bahamas Agricultural and Industrial Corporation (BAIC) in place of the Arnold A. Forbes, who vacates to take on the cabinet minister post. As for those eleven new QCs in The Bahamas; among them: The Hon. Philip Brave Davis – Bahamas Deputy Prime Minister, Hon. Allyson Maynard-Gibson, Cabinet Minister and Attorney General of The Bahamas; Grand Bahama attorney and son of the South Caicos soil, Maurice Glinton; former government members Carl Bethel and Alfred Sears and Hon. Damien Gomez, Senator in the Upper Chambers of The Bahamas Parliament.
