Providenciales, 27 Nov 2014 – The Holiday season officially on now… Thanksgiving today with a number of our fine dining spots celebrating the American tradition with meals including Point Grace where you can dine at either Hutchings or Grace’s Cottage… Blue Haven Resort & Marina or the Beach House are serving a holiday helping today and tonight… Salvation Army with fundraising going on at Sharkbite, all proceeds to go to feeding TCIs hungry program… perhaps you want to head over to TCIPS which is located at Abundant Life Ministry’s grounds; they are raising funds too through the sale of Thanksgiving Dinner… tomorrow, Precious Treasures International school holds a fair, from 11am until at the school grounds… this weekend, the country’s largest cultural event is being staged at Three Queen’s in Blue Hills, talking about the Turks and Caicos Conch Festival; that’s set for Saturday from noon until, where you can pay $25 to eat as much conch cuisine as your belly can hold… restaurants compete for best in show prizes!
On Sunday you can walk or run it off with the 5k and 10k challenge of Wrightfully Fit Fitness Center where part proceeds go to the Provo Children’s Home and Monday, LIME will hold its Tree Lighting at the Leeward Highway office at 5pm. Biggest change this year as we approach Christmas; for the first time, the Turks and Caicos will celebrate a National Day of Thanksgiving tomorrow – Friday November 28th – it’s a public holiday. It was touted to be a Christian holiday, a time to pause to give God thanks for these beautiful by nature islands and the people in them…Premier Rufus Ewing in his announcement to create this new holiday said: “This is meant to be a religious holiday with persons giving thanks to the Almighty God and also to appreciate all of our religious beliefs during this period,” No Thanksgiving services have been announced as yet though by government or churches for this first National Day of Thanksgiving.
