Providenciales, 13 Nov 2014 – Bullying the topic today at HJ Robinson High School in Grand Turk as a National Youth Forum got underway and involved the students of that government run institution.

Youth Director, Jasmine Parker told Magnetic Media: Among the issues these teenagers will confront as they join in what is now a global conversation, is understanding to what magnitude the various dynamics of bullying are affecting the student population; They will weigh in on exploring ways to tackle the problem of bullying in school, and the students will help these leaders to explore how to review aspects of schools’ social and civic objectives and the cultural and leadership efforts in order to combat bullying.

There is no statistical data in the Turks and Caicos on how prevalent bullying is… but the problem does exist according to young people we have spoken to over the years. On that panel at HJ Robinson: Dr. Alicia Malcolm; Desiree Adams; Maqueita Carter; Kevin McCartney; Inspector Jerome Caley and Claudel Seymour the HJ Guidance Counselor. Bottom line is children and youth will be empowered to actively intervene to prevent and stop bullying.
