Providenciales, 19 Nov 2014 – As to that motion late on Monday, which reintroduced the report by the Select Committee on the Broadcasting Bill by Hon John Philips, there were no other contributions and it will move to a third reading and could mean that new taxes will be introduced to the industry. Hon Philips said the committee which had done the work on the bill; after it was withdrawn in previous debate will seek to tax private owners of television satellite systems. QUOTE (14:32-15;01).

It will also leave it to government to decide if Radio Turks and Caicos remains a part of TCIG responsibility or is permitted to compete for advertising dollars as does privately run radio stations. The proposal also allows church or charity operated broadcast stations to do so with tax exemptions, but that is only if the stations are operating without commercial or political content and fully funded by the church or charity itself.
