Grand Turk, 16 Oct 2014 (TCIG Press Release)- Her Majesty’s Prison Service (HMP) in observance of its second annual “Prison Week” celebrations has scheduled a week of social and festive events from the 19 – 25 October 2014.
Selected inmates will attend some events outside of HMP, with exception of the party at Governor’s Beach which will include prison staff and members of the Grand Turk community.
Mr. Clyde Greene, Rehabilitation Manager stated; “Programs such as these are important to the rehabilitation process for the individuals at HMP. It helps to prepare persons for the possibility of assimilation back into the general public.”
The schedule is as follows;
Sunday 19 – 11:00am Church Service @ Salem Baptist Church.
· Monday 20 October – “Extensive Clean Up Campaigned” in designated areas of Grand Turk.
· Tuesday 21 October – In house basketball competition @ Her Majesty’s Prison (HMP), Prison All Stars vs. Grand Turk All Stars.
· Wednesday 22 October – “Farm Display Day” Farm products on display @ the Clock Tower from 11am-2pm.
· Thursday 23 October – In house soccer competition @ HMP, female officers to visit the geriatric ward at the Grand Turk Hospital.
· Friday 24 October – Health Fair @ HMP, Doctors from across the islands will be in attendance to discuss health issues that affect our lives such as mammograms, pap smears, breast cancer, prostate cancer, hypertension and so much more!!
· Saturday 25 October – “Beacharama,” @ Governors Beach Volleyball, Tug a War, 50 meter dash, swimming, and Iron Man relay, Prison/Police/Margaretville. Kids Games, Pin the tail on the donkey and musical chairs! The Grand Finale, “Catch a Pig, Keep a Pig”
Raffle tickets are on sale, 1st Prize a goat, 2nd Prize a pig. Contact any member of HMP Staff to purchase your $5.00 tickets. Proceeds from the raffle will be donated to the TCI Kidney Foundation.
