Governments Want To Reduce Air Travel Taxes

Providenciales, Sept. 22,2014 – Governments want to reduce air travel taxes and governments want to create a seamless intra-regional travel security system… but it is expensive and could prove a logistical nightmare as a result. The gist of what Premier Dr Rufus Ewing presented when he made contribution during discussions on Caribbean Aviation Day at the State of the Industry Tourism Conference hosted by the CTO St Thomas, USVI.

The Premier said on aviation taxes: such taxes are ring fenced for repayment of loans for airport developments… and on the matter of one stop security for regional visitors, Dr. Ewing explained: These advancements while enhancing security controls and creating better passenger travel experiences are cost-prohibitive, especially for small island Governments. The day ended with a commitment by governments to explore cutting costs on air transport taxes.
