Work is well underway for a reform of the Turks and Caicos Islands’ current education system….

The Minister of Education presented in the last Cabinet sitting the preliminary findings of a review. With the support of UNICEF the ministry has already identified areas that will be of primary focus. Some of these mentioned by the Minister were curriculum development, provision of school places, professional development for teachers and technical and vocational and continuing education.

Hon. Missick, her Permanent Secretary, Cherly-Ann Jones and the Director of Education, Edgar Howell recently travelled to the Cayman Islands where the trio attended a series of meetings with the Cayman Islands’ Ministry of Education team, discussing technology integration in schools, safer schools and development of new schools structure among other things.

Hon. Missick lauded the Cayman Islands education system and says it is one that the Turks and Caicos will strive toward emulating.
