Digicel is on a mission to dominate on the island of Hispanola; making a bid to buy out the second largest mobile phone provider in the Dominican Republic, Orange.
Denis O’Brien’s Digicel is expected to submit a 1.3 billion dollar offer for the Dominican Republic operations of Orange, formerly France Telecom.
Cable and Wireless or LIME is also set to make a bid for the company which has a market share of 38 per cent and with an annual revenue €450 million euros and about three million subscribers.
Already Digicel dominates in Haiti.
