Can you imagine a Caribbean with no beaches?

With studies predicting a potential climate change in focus for 2050 several Caribbean countries have started to raise concerns about a rise in sea level and what that will mean for the Caribbean.

An online website recently reported that a study conducted by the World Bank states that among those countries at high risk to be affected is the Dominican Republic.

In an interview with radio personality Damian Wilson, Director of the Department of Environment and Maritime Affairs, Kathleen Wood reportedly cautioned that sea level rise is inevitable in the Turks and Caicos and the TCI is indeed vulnerable and of grave concern are the low-lying and coastal areas.

Wood added that the government’s long term planning should be based on this reality.
