A step closer to help for the 124 families that are suppose to benefit from the $6 million European Union funding granted to assist residents who were severely affected by Hurricane Ike in 2008.

Now visiting the islands is the European Union Ambassador to the Caribbean, Her Excellency Paola Amedei, who is expected to meet with the government officials and some of the Grand Turk beneficiaries of the fund which will provide her a ‘close up’ view as to how the monies will help the families.

Contracts for the repairing and rebuilding of these homes destroyed by Hurricane Ike are expected to be issued early next month offering local contractors the opportunity to benefit from the fund also.
