NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS, OCTOBER 18, 2013- On what the Minister of Tourism Obediah Wilchcombe pegged “a historical day in The Bahamas,” the Norwegian Breakaway made its inaugural voyage to Nassau. During a ceremony held on the cruise ship on Thursday, October 17 marking the event, Minister Wilchcombe said he was “elated” to be welcoming the new ship to the country.

“We have had a longstanding relationship with Norwegian Cruise Lines, with their ships sailing to The Bahamas since 1966,” said Mr. Wilchcombe. “This new ship offers yet another opportunity for us to continue with that relationship and it is a definite boost to our number one industry.”

The Norwegian Breakaway has a passenger capacity of approximately 4000 and is one of the largest ships in the world. The boat will sail to The Bahamas and other countries in the Caribbean on a weekly basis.
