The Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies will be hosting a Geographical Information Systems workshop today and tomorrow at the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies Conference Room on Providenciales.
The purpose of the workshop is to enhance the capacity of individuals associated with disaster management to be able to develop and use GIS applications which will enable them to provide accurate data if the need arises. Attendees will hail from relevant areas in the private and public sector.
The DDME has also recently launched their facebook page. The department said it is well aware of the importance of social media in the dissemination of information and will therefore be using facebook as a tool to share Disaster Risk Management activities and information on the Turks and Caicos.
