Severe Weather alert for Bimini in The Bahamas, tornado and waterspouts possible

SEVERE WEATHER WARNING – Thursday July 26, 2018, issued at 9am

THE BAHAMAS DEPARTMENT OF METEOROLOGY HAS ISSUED A
SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING FROM 9:00 AM UNTIL 10:00
AM THURSDAY 26TH JULY 2018.
A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING IS NOW IN EFFECT FOR
BIMINI AND ITS ADJACENT WATERS.
AT 9:00 AM OBSERVATIONS, RADAR AND SATELLITE IMAGERY
DEPICTED CLUSTERS OF THUNDERSTORMS MOVING ACROSS THE
AFOREMENTIONED ISLAND.

SOME OF THESE THUNDERSTORMS WILL BE SEVERE AT TIMES
CAUSING STRONG GUSTY WINDS, DANGEROUS LIGHTNING,
HEAVY DOWNPOURS, HAIL AND POSSIBLE WATERSPOUT OR
TORNADIC ACTIVITY. LOCALIZE FLOODING IS EXPECTED IN HEAVY
DOWNPOURS.
BOATERS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD SEEK SAFE HARBOUR
AND RESIDENTS IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD STAY INDOORS
AND AWAY FROM WINDOWS WHEN CONDITIONS WORSEN.
RESIDENTS SHOULD NOT SEEK SHELTER UNDER TREES OR IN
WATER AS THESE CAN BECOME LIGHTNING CONDUCTORS.
