GENERAL SITUATION: A PRE-FRONTAL TROUGH ASSOCIATED WITH A COLD FRONT IN THE NORTHWEST BAHAMAS WILL CONTINUE TO SUPPORT POCKETS OF UNSETTLED WEATHER AS IT MOVES SOUTHEASTWARDS TODAY.  ELSEWHERE, A WEAKENING MID LEVEL TROUGH IN THE VICINITY OF THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS CONTINUES TO PRODUCE SCATTERED ACTIVITY ACROSS THAT AREA WHILE SLOWLY EXITING EASTWARDS THROUGH TONIGHT.

SPECIAL WARNINGS: BOATERS AND BEACHGOERS SHOULD CONTINUE TO EXERCISE CAUTION DUE TO THE RISK OF RIP CURRENTS AT NORTH AND EAST COAST BEACHES. RESIDENTS IN THE CENTRAL ISLANDS CAN STILL EXPECT LOCALIZED FLOODING DURING HEAVY OR PROLONGED RAINFALL EVENTS.

WEATHER: PARTLY TO MOSTLY CLOUDY AND BREEZY WITH THE CHANCE OF A FEW ISOLATED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS MAINLY IN THE VICINITY OF THE FRONTAL TROUGH THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH TONIGHT.

ADVISORY: A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION COMES INTO EFFECT BY TONIGHT.

WINDS: NORTHWEST TO NORTH AND 10 TO 15 KNOTS THIS AFTERNOON, BECOMING NORTHERLY AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS OVER OPEN WATERS BY TONIGHT.

SEAS: 2 TO 4 FEET OVER THE OCEAN THIS AFTERNOON, BUILDING UP TO 4 TO 6 FEET OVER THE OCEAN BY TONIGHT.

ADVISORY: A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION IS IN EFFECT FOR THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS… MEANWHILE, A SMALL CRAFT CAUTION COMES INTO EFFECT BY TONIGHT FOR THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS.

 

WINDS: VARIABLE AT LESS THAN 10 KNOTS THIS AFTERNOON BUT BECOMING NORTHERLY AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS OVER OPEN WATERS AFTER THE FRONTAL PASSAGE TONIGHT IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS…EAST TO SOUTHEAST AT 15 TO 20 KNOTS OVER OPEN WATERS IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

 

SEAS: 3 FEET OR LESS BUILDING UP TO 4 TO 6 FEET BY TONIGHT OVER THE OCEAN IN THE CENTRAL BAHAMAS…4 TO 6 FEET OVER THE OCEAN IN THE SOUTHEAST BAHAMAS.

BOATERS SHOULD ALSO BE ALERT FOR GUSTY WINDS AND HIGHER SEAS IN OR NEAR HEAVY SHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS ACROSS ALL AREAS.
