#TurksandCaicos, November 10, 2017 – Providenciales – Outgoing Chair of the Turks and Caicos Human Rights Commission led in the introduction of the new director of the HRC of the TCI last week; the appointment of Sabrina Green ends a near 6 month void at the organization which Cheryl Astwood-Tull said is now stronger than ever.
“The duty of the director is to assist the commission, meaning the members of the commission appointed in the day to day running and management of the office.”
Since November 1st, Green who is a vocal member of the TCI community, who ran in the recent 2016 General Election and speaks both Spanish and Creole fluently will hold this post for three years and shared some of her hopes as she manages the affairs of the HRC.
“There is a face here now that you can relate to, there is a voice here now that you can rely on to defend your rights, and I am pleased to be here, I am so grateful for the warm welcome that I got from the staff, from the commissions, from the chairman here, everyone has been absolutely accommodating, and I am ready to start working for you.”
With an LLB law degree and a Masters degrees in International Hotel and Tourism management, the diversity in Sabrina Green’s educational background is expected to be a great asset to the office as the new director settles in and progresses the mission of the Human Rights Commission
On hand for the announcement were members of the Commission, office staff of the HRC and the Minister of Education, Hon Karen Malcolm.
