Norwegian diverts 75,000 cruisers to Cuba over Bahamas

Nassau, Bahamas, February 9, 2017It was imagined that the opening of Cuba would impact tourism for The Bahamas and now a Tribune business news report has unearthed that it is not fiction, but fact.

Norwegian Cruise Lines has added the allure of an overnight docking in Havana Cuba to several of its Caribbean cruises and in order to add the destination, calls on Nassau and Freeport have been dumped.
Twenty five of Norwegian’s Cruises offer this Havana experience and when the schedule was checked, it is clear, says the article in today’s paper that to remain berthed in Cuba from 8am one day, to 3pm the next day means that there will be no stop to Nassau Harbour and no stop to Lucayan Harbour.
This means a subtraction of 75,000 cruise passengers arriving at Nassau and Freeport.  The report also says that Norwegian has retained its stops into the Berry Islands at Great Stirrup’s Cay.
